Sharks Pool League Specific Rules
No drama! League Director/s can suspend a player or captain from the league for any offense. Good Sportsmanship is the required standard. “Sharking” your opponent will be a foul, whether committed by you, a teammate or significant other.
Dues
- Bar Sponsorship Fee ($120 per team) is due before the season starts at the preseason Captains meeting.
- Session fee of $10 per player who plays or plans to play 9+ games.
- Nightly/weekly team fee is $50 per team ($2.50 per game x20).
- Teams are responsible for tipping the bartender for halftime drinks: $5 minimum per team.
Rosters
- Minimum number of regular players required is 5 and Maximum is 10. Subs are allowed as needed. Note: during 1st 2 weeks while teams are getting organized, teams will be allowed to play with only 4 players. After 2nd week, all teams must have 5 or more.
- 5 players minimum per night in regular season. 5 qualified players minimum for playoffs (less than 5 qualified players will result in those games being forfeited).
- Players MUST play 45% of all games in regular season to qualify for team playoffs and 65% of all games to play in Banquet tournament.
Splitting Games
- Allowed during first two weeks, up to 5 games per player per match when teams are short players / SUBs.
- Can split 1, 2 or 3 games with a different player or SUB if needed to be flexible.
Breaking
- Winner of the lag breaks.
- NO SOFT BREAKS and 4 Balls must hit the rail (cue ball excluded).
- 8 on the Break wins but if you scratch also, then it’s a loss.
- Cue ball scratch awards opponent with Ball in Hand anywhere.
- Following the break, its open until the first shooter pockets a ball legally.
Fouls
- ALL balls are LIVE and shall not be disturbed. Touching any ball with any part of your body or clothing will result in a ball in hand.
- NO COACHING during a match. Can result in a Ball in Hand for opponent.
- Balls jumped off the table will be pocketed, not spotted. This is a foul, the shooters turn ends, and their opponent is awarded ball in hand, anywhere on the table.
Pool Table Etiquette
- No “sharking” opponent by talking to them while it’s their turn or standing in their line of sight on purpose. This also applies to teammates, friends and family.
- When it’s not your turn, back away from the table.
- If you are in a match, you should be watching your match and not walk away. No talking to your teammates during your match.
- Be respectful and encourage fair play. (We are here to have a good time!)
